The man threatened to commit suicide. Phone calls set off maneuvers in Stodůlky.
© AKTU.cz, Jiří Forman The literal police maneuvers involving a SWAT team and a negotiator triggered calls from a man who threatened to kill himself. Officers couldn’t confirm whether he intended to harm only himself or if he was armed. Consequently, a larger contingent of officers, including the SWAT team, was dispatched to Stodůlky in Prague.
According to available information, the man was supposed to be at his apartment. The police searched the building's hallways and eventually found him on a park bench. He was drunk. Once the danger had passed, the officers withdrew.
Even before taking action, it was necessary to secure the area for the safety of the neighborhood residents.
After the incident, a patrol took the man into custody and transported him to the station for questioning. He was likely also examined by a doctor due to his state of mind. Fortunately, no weapon was found. The man later expressed regret for his actions, even after a PMJ police officer spoke with him sensitively about everything that had occurred.
