Complicated negotiations in Prague. A man wanted to commit suicide on Poděbradská.
© AKTU.cz, Jiří Forman Prague police, led by a tactical unit, spent more than two hours negotiating with a man who wanted to commit suicide on Poděbradská. The police even cordoned off the surrounding area as a precaution because it was not clear whether the man intended to use a firearm to commit suicide.
The perimeter was secured immediately upon arrival by the Special Public Order Unit. Officers from the PMJ were then prepared for the so‑called crisis scenario until the tactical unit arrived.
The negotiations themselves lasted more than two hours. Officers closed the adjacent filling station and did not allow anyone to enter the residential building for the duration of the operation.
In the end, the negotiators managed to persuade the man to give up on suicide and open up to the police. Fortunately, no one was injured. The man was examined by a doctor.
